Three cluster members represent the Committee for Astroparticle Physics in Germany
Three members of the Excellence Cluster Universe were elected as representatives of their research fields into the Committee for Astroparticle Physics in Germany (KAT). These are: Prof Lothar Oberauer from TUM for the low-energy neutrino physics group, Prof Elisa Resconi from TUM for the high-energy neutrino physics group and Prof Roland Diehl from Max Planck Institute for extraterrestrial Physics for the nuclear astrophysics group.
The KAT represents and coordinates the scientific activity of research groups present at 15 universities, several Helmholtz and several Max Planck Institutes. Important topics are the development of future strategies, participation in medium and long-term national and international research programmes and access and utilization of national and international research institutions. The KAT is organized in nine scientific themes: dark matter, charged cosmic rays, gamma-astronomy, low-energy neutrino physics, high-energy neutrino physics, neutrino properties, gravitational waves, theory of astroparticle physics and nuclear astrophysics. The representatives for these fields are elected every three years. In this term, three of the elected field representatives are also principal investigators of the Excellence Cluster Universe (last term: one).
