Special Talk by James W. Truran
Within his six days visit to the Excellence Cluster Universe, James W. Truran, renowned Professor for Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Chicago, will give a talk about
“The Origin of the Elements and the Evolution of the Composition of the Cosmos”.
The talk will take place on Wednesday, 24 September, at 7pm at the Carl Friedrich von Siemens Stiftung (Südliches Schlossrondell 23, 80638 München). Because of limited space, it is necessary to register for participation at: info(a)universe-cluster.de.
Professor Truran’s research is concerned with the nuclear process by which the elements heavier than hydrogen and helium are synthesized in stellar and supernova environments, and with the mechanism of nova and supernova explosions.
He authored more than 400 publications on theoretical Astrophysics. With his research work, Truran crucially influenced today’s understanding of the development of chemical elements within the Universe.
