Andrzej Buras honored as „TUM Emeritus of Excellence“
The Technical University München (TUM) has honored four members of the Physics Department as “TUM Emeriti of Excellence”. One of the honored academics is Professor Andrzej Buras. He was a founding member of the Excellence Cluster Universe and has been leader of the Cluster’s Research Area “C”, which focuses on the origin of particle masses and their hierarchy.
Since 2006, the TUM awards the title “Emeritus of Excellence” to outstanding and particularly dedicated retired professors and involves them in certain duties of the University.
Andrzej Buras belongs to the world’s leading researchers in the field of applied quantum field theory. From 1988 to 2012 he had a full professorship in theoretical elementary particle physics. Since 2007, he has also been leader of the Fundamental Physics group of TUM’s Institute of Advanced Studies.
