Inclusive e_s16 e- pair production in p _s16 p and p _s16 Nb collisions at E(kin) = 3.5-GeV

Abstract
We report on recent data of e(_s16)e(-_s14) pair emission in proton nucleus collisions at energies above the light vector meson production thresholds. Invariant mass distributions for the p_s16Nb system at Ekin = 3.5 GeV are compared to data from elementar y p_s16p reactions at the same beam energy. We observe a constant I (0)/I yield ratio for both systems but an excess in the mass region above the I (0) mass. Furthermore we present here the normalization procedure that was applied to p_s16Nb collisions by meas uring the production of negative pions in the HADES acceptance.
