Abstract
We present a calculation of the light-hadron spectrum in full QCD using two plus one flavor Asqtad sea quarks and domain wall valence quarks. Calculations of meson and baryon masses are performed on a lattice of spatial size L ~ 2.5 fm, and a lattice spacing of a ~ 0.124 fm, for pion masses as light as m_pi ~ 300 MeV. Extrapolation of baryon masses to the physical pion mass is studied using continuum and mixed action heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory for two and three flavors. The successes and limitations of chiral perturbation theory with these extrapolations are discussed.
